We are so excited that our majesty the Queen is the first British monarch celebrating 70 years in service, and we have a full programme of events and festivities planned to commemorate this historic weekend!
Starting things off on Thursday 2nd June at 10am, we will be hosting a free live-screening of the Trooping of the Colour on the big screen in the Maltings Bar. With over 1200 officers and soldiers on parade, musicians from the Massed Bands of the Household Division and Corps of Drums, not to mention hundreds of horses… this is certainly a moment in history not to be missed!
At 2pm, TaleGate Theatre Productions’ will be taking the stage with the family show ‘The Queen’s Knickers’. Disaster strikes the palace when the Queen’s knickers are nicked! Meanwhile, a little girl is wondering what knickers Her Majesty will choose to wear on a school visit! Don’t miss out on getting your face painted before the show.

You can also visit the museum for some free craft activities. Drop in between 10am and 2pm on the 1st and 2nd of June to make your very own crown, or pick up a trail sheet and find the clues in the museum.
On Saturday 4th June, we will be hosting our very own afternoon tea! For just £5, choose between two sittings and join us in proposing a toast to her majesty whilst enjoying some live music performed by BSMTC. What a better way to spend an afternoon celebrating the Queen!

To mark this special occasion, we will be planting a tree in our garden commemorating the jubilee. The tree planting ceremony will be taking place at approx. 1pm, and we invite you all to join us.
Rounding things off on Sunday 5th June, Retune in June is a one-day festival hosted by mental wellbeing charity Retune. You will have the chance to see Jack Culllen, who is headlining the day in the theatre auditorium. A seated audience will lend the set a relaxed and personal feel, offering Jack the chance to explain the inspiration behind his songs.
The day will include Yoga with Vanessa Hatton Riveiro (11.30am), a Retune Mental Wellbeing Workshop with Tom Ryder (1pm), Comedy from Juliette Burton (3pm) and Steve Bugeja (5pm), and The Retuners ft. Ed Drewett and Scarlet Thomas (7pm). Enjoy acoustic acts in the bar throughout the day, and round your night off by dancing to The Tom Braggins Trio once Jack’s set finishes.
