South Mill Arts is an exciting and vibrant multi arts and heritage venue located in Bishop’s Stortford.  Our facilities include a 300-seater auditorium, museum, dance studio, gallery and conference rooms.  Take a look at the fantastic opportunities below to become part of the successful team at South Mill Arts working alongside a variety of people to deliver fantastic shows and events.




To work with the Technical Manager, Senior Theatre Technician and Part Time Technician to provide professional technical services to clients requiring Stage Management, Sound and Theatre Lighting services at South Mill Arts.


20 hours per week (rota’d over a month period) as required and agreed with the Technical Manager. Hours will include weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.

South Mill Arts is a thriving centre for heritage, arts, cultural and social activities for the community of  Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding area. As we move into an exciting phase of potential development, the Board is seeking to appoint new trustees who are inspired by our CIO’s objectives and future plans. We want you to bring your enthusiasm, expertise and creativity to further enhance and sustain our work at South Mill Arts.

We are particularly looking to add the following areas of expertise to our CIO Board:

  • Heritage and arts management
  • Fundraising
  • Digital Marketing
  • Stakeholder and cultural engagement
  • Financial management
  • Facilities management

We welcome candidates who are team players and have skills and a positive attitude that they think will provide a value added contribution to South Mill Arts as a member of the Board of Trustees.

If you have no previous experience as a Trustee but have other skills or expertise that you think would support the development and long term future of South Mill Arts, do consider applying as support to understand the role will be provided.  We are keen to promote strong principles of equality and diversity and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.

Trustees fulfill a non-executive role and are not employed or remunerated. However the role provides a personally rewarding opportunity to help shape and deliver the future of our unique, local, community-focused charity by sharing your expertise and experience.

We are currently looking for volunteers to join our Trustee Action Group who are managing our recent application to the Town Council for a £2.5 million grant for refurbishment and development of South Mill Arts.

We are looking for expertise in site project management as well as experience/knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering for the future development of the site.
