South Mill Arts is an exciting and vibrant multi-arts and heritage venue located in Bishop’s Stortford. Our facilities include a 300-seater auditorium, museum, dance studio, gallery and conference rooms. We are currently looking for a part-time Artistic Programmer and part-time Theatre Technician to deliver our artistic programme. This is an opportunity to become part of the successful team at South Mill Arts working alongside a variety of people to deliver fantastic shows and events.
ARTISTIC PROGRAMMER
Responsibilities will include:
- Programming the venue for live and cinema events within financial guidelines offering a diverse theatre and cinema programme
- Negotiate and contract organisations and companies in the provision of the arts programme
Required Experience
- Experience of programming an arts venue with a knowledge of arts provision in the UK
- Being strategic and commercially aware, balancing creative thinking with a focus on revenue generation
- Marketing knowledge in support of the arts programme

THEATRE TECHNICIAN
Responsibilities will include:
- To operate lighting/sound for productions and to cover technical on stage as required
- To use house digital projection equipment as part of the cinema programme
- Work with visiting companies and artists to ensure all events run to schedule
Required Experience:
- Min of three years with the Technical industry
- Prior experience of working with clients in professional and community capacity
- Basic technical maintenance skills
