This Christmas, get ready for a pantomime that is full of beans.
From the director of 2019’s Sleeping Beauty comes this giant of an adventure!
Jack and the Beanstalk is coming to the South Mill Arts stage from the 3rd December.
Full of music, laughter and larger than life characters, Jack and the Beanstalk will enchant audiences this Christmas.
With a fabulous cast who will delight the whole family, we welcome Laurie Denman who will be playing our hero, Jack.
Laurie has recently completed the feature film Living, appearing alongside Bill Nighy. Previously Laurie has appeared in the critically acclaimed 80’s musical Around the World in 80s Days at the Blackpool Grand.
You may also recognise him from his roles at South Mill Arts in The Revellers Society and some may even remember him from the piano, during 2019’s Sleeping Beauty when he acted as musical director and arranger.
Alongside Jack, Etta Williams will be starring as Jill.
No stranger to family fun, Etta recently toured the UK in the stage adaptation of the hit children’s book Zog.
Bringing laughter and fun to the show will be Dame Trott and Simple Simon, being played by Matthew Kellett and Oliver Mawdsley.
Coming from an operatic background, Matthew Kellett recently performed in Candide and with renowned director Matt Ravenhill in his production of La Boheme. He has appeared many times with the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, performing nearly every comedic role in the canon.
You may have seen Oliver Mawdsley in the West End when he performed in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and the Mike Leigh movie Peterloo.
His credits also include performing in The Hundred and One Dalmatians with the New Vic and featuring on the original cast recording of Peter Rabbit.
Adding that touch of magic to the festivities is Fairy Goodwin played by Lauren Chinery. The amazingly talented Lauren has dueted with Russel Watson and been in the UK tour of Dreamboats and Petticoats.
Lauren also had the title role of Miss Nightingale in the West End. We can’t wait to see her in action this December.
And no Christmas panto would be complete without the evil villain and this year is no exception with Alastair Hill playing the Crooked Man. Alastair has been in the UK tours of Saturday Night Fever and Dreamboats & Petticoats.
We can’t wait to boo him on stage this Christmas!
This vibrant cast will be joined on stage by an ensemble of local children who will help bring the magic of panto alive this year.
We are so excited to get started! The set is being painted, the cast are learning their lines and costumes are being sewn to make this this a magical Christmas that you will remember for years to come.
