Stort Pride 2022 

This year’s Pride celebrations Started on Friday 19th August with an amazing show with London Drag King LoUis CYfer.

A free festival was then held on Saturday beginning with the walk of solidarity from the bandstand in Sworder’s Field.
Entertainment and activities included live music in the bar all day, an exhibition by Grey Lady Tattoo in the Art space, crafts by the Little Arts Workshop and a selfie booth as well as community information stalls.

The event was made possible by support from an East Herts Council grant.

Organiser Chelle Peppiatt was delighted by support from across the community to celebrate love and friendship during the two-day event.

They said “Stort Pride is Bishops Stortford local LGBTQIA+ community building safer spaces and social opportunities to the LGBTQIA+ people of the town and surrounding areas”

“Working in partnerships with bars, clubs and restaurants to build a safer, welcoming and more inclusive night time economy, as well as, increasing chances for people to connect with other LGBTQIA+ individuals.”

Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank, Red Kite rape counselling service, The New Apton Centre, Stort Valley and Villages Primary Care network’s social prescribing team and many more local organizations were all represented at Pride.
