South Mill Arts Exhibits St Mary’s Catholic School A Level Art

South Mill Arts was delighted to welcome teachers and students from St Mary’s Catholic School to the centre last week to exhibit their A Level artwork.

Students Lilly, Kristen, Irene and Abigail joined the Museum staff with teachers Miss Nairn and Mrs Morgan-Wren, to curate an exhibition of the school’s year 13 A-Level work.

The fabulous work represented the best of St Mary’s A level students’ current portfolios and the group worked through the curation process – selecting, mounting and presenting their pictures. On the day the students discussed what it means to curate an exhibition and debated the grouping and position of the work.

The event was part of the museum’s Young Curators scheme; an education and volunteer programme to open the world of curatorship to young people. The initiative is part-funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding work.

Please visit the exhibition on the first floor Art Space at South Mill Arts, open until the end of August – entry is free!
